Autumn Scandi Meadow

Autumn is upon us again!

I love everything about this time of year, but it’s the colours that inspire me most. The colours of autumn represent a transition from the vibrant greens of summer to the more subdued hues of winter. The oranges and yellows evoke feelings of warmth and comfort. As soon as I saw the wonderful shades of Stylecraft ReCreate Dk at the beginning of the year, I knew that I wanted to use them in an Autumn project.

And here it is, Scandi Meadow Autumn! I knew that I wanted to make an Autumn version of this pattern even before I had finished the original colour ways.

I knew that I wanted to make an Autumn version of this pattern even before I had finished the original colour ways.

If you’d like to make your own Autumn Scandi Meadow, here are all the details.

Yarn:

Stylecraft ReCreate DK

1 each Avocado, Dijon, Blush, Cherry, Aubergine, Teal, Sky. (I used around half a ball of each, so plenty if you want to make it bigger)

3 x Smoke (I used two and a bit balls of Smoke so you could make a wider border if you wanted to)

Pattern:

The blanket is made exactly as the original pattern with a slight alteration to the border which I will detail below.

You can find the pattern here

I have loosely substituted the colours as below (I went a bit off piste with the tulips…)

Avocado = mint and pale green

Dijon = lemon

Blush = peach

Cherry = baby pink

Aubergine = bright pink

Sky = lilac

Teal = baby blue

Smoke = dark blue or white

Border:

I’ve worked the htr border as the pattern, but rather than reversing the colours, I’ve just done one round of each of the shades with the smoke in-between. Instead of the bobble border, I’ve just finished the edge with a simple round of dc.

Here’s a closeup of the border so you can see what I mean. I’m absolutely delighted with it!
